Plaque and Tartar Removal

Specialised Implant Cleaning

Airflow Polishing & Ultrasonic Cleaning

Gum Health Assessment

We begin by measuring and recording the condition of your gums and their attachment levels. This assessment helps determine whether you need a basic clean or more advanced gum care.

We remove soft, sticky plaque and hardened tartar (calculus) that build up over time. These deposits not only cause tooth decay but can also lead to gum disease if not regularly cleaned. Tartar often hides under the gums and between teeth, causing silent damage to the supporting structures of your teeth. Professional cleaning is essential to remove these hidden and hard-to-reach deposits.

For patients with dental implants, implant-supported bridges, or dentures, we offer specialised cleaning techniques to maintain implant health.

We use the latest equipment including gentle air polishing (Airflow) along with standard ultrasonic scaling to clean hard-to-reach areas and remove surface stains effectively.

Home Care Advice

Your hygienist will provide tailored recommendations for brushing, flossing, specific toothpaste and rinses, and maintaining your gum health between visits.

Fluoride Varnish (If Needed)

For patients with weak enamel or very sensitive teeth, a fluoride varnish may be applied to help strengthen teeth and reduce sensitivity.

Treatment Planning

If you have gum disease, your hygienist will recommend the appropriate type of cleaning (basic, deep, or advanced) and may work closely with your dentist or refer you to a periodontist for complex cases.

Why Is Cleaning Important?

Plaque is a soft, sticky film of bacteria that forms on teeth daily. If not removed with regular brushing and flossing, it hardens into tartar—a tough deposit that can’t be removed at home. Tartar not only builds up on visible surfaces but also often hides under the gumline, between teeth, and on root surfaces—causing silent damage.

If left untreated, plaque and tartar can lead to gum disease—starting as gingivitis (mild gum inflammation) and progressing to periodontitis (advanced gum disease). Periodontitis can result in painful infections, gum recession, loose teeth, and even tooth loss. It can also affect your overall health, which is why regular professional cleaning is essential.
