I graduated in 1988 and have been practicing in Christchurch since then. After a couple of years as a young house surgeon at Christchurch hospital, l moved to the private sector.
I started at QE2 Dental in 1995 and have been here since then. In 2011 I took up a position as Clinical Director of the Hospital Dental Service. This means I now split my time between the two different, stimulating aspects of a health professional, both the public and private sectors.
My main interest clinically is minor oral surgery and sedation, meaning I enjoy the challenge of removing wisdom teeth, placing and restoring implants and minor surgical procedures. I also enjoy the technical intricacies of endodontics.
Outside of work my children keep me busy and entertained. I am lucky to have the reminder from twin girls and a slightly older boy that the world revolves around them and not me or work! They help to keep me grounded and focused on what is really important in life.
"Find a job you enjoy and you will never work a day in your life" is close to how I feel about dentistry, consequently I believe passionately in the profession and hopefully this reflects in my attitude and work.
The most challenging and rewarding aspect of this profession are the patients, without you there would be no “job”, therefore my focus is always on you the patient.
